Commodity Import Report (CIR)

A flag ( Access Restricted to APHIS/CBP ) indicates information that is intended for and available to an APHIS/CBP audience only.

Import Requirements
1 Admissible Plant Parts: Root
2 Admissible Ports: All Ports
3 Subject to Inspection: If grown in Canada, this commodity is subject to inspection at the port of entry and all general requirements of 7 CFR 319.56-10.
4 Other: Take action under CITES as appropriate.

CITES articles must be cleared at a designated port. If the article is not entering a designated port, have the importer reroute the article to a designated port. The articles must also be accompanied by valid CITES documentation. If you are in the business of importing, exporting, or reexporting CITES- or ESA-regulated articles, USDA regulation 7 CFR 355 requires you to possess a valid USDA Protected Plant Permit. Shipping and handling charges are to be borne by the importer. If the movement to a designated port is unacceptable, contact your District Field Office who will contact a PPQ Regional Botanist or CITES Specialist to see whether reexport is an option. If appropriate, safeguard the consignment.
5 Date Restriction: For field-grown crops, the growing season is May 1 through October 31.
